Incorporated in 1827, Bloomfield Township was the first Charter Township formed in Oakland County. Today it is a 26 square mile community known for its natural beauty, rolling hills, winding roads and lakes that can be as small as a scenic pond or large enough to handle small boats. Ninety-five percent of the Township is residential. Houses range in size from small, affordable homes to grand estates. Many of the region’s top executives and business owners live in Bloomfield Township because of the unique, and in many cases one-of-a-kind homesteads. As you would expect, Bloomfield Township leads the way in quality education. The Township is serviced by four public school systems. Bloomfield Hills Schools and Birmingham Public Schools are the primary school systems with Avondale and Pontiac schools covering limited areas. Township residents also have access to a number of private schools with national reputations for excellence. The magnificent Kirk in the Hills Presbyterian Church, located on Long Lake Road, is one of many examples of fine architecture and notable landmarks that distinguish Bloomfield Township.
The Township is home to internationally known Oakland Hills Country Club, which has hosted numerous PGA tournaments including the 2008 PGA Championship and the 2004 Ryder Cup. Several other prestigious golf clubs dot the landscape. The Township is also home to numerous professional and corporate offices, retail and dining destinations and research and development companies along the Telegraph, Maple Rd., Square Lake Rd. and Woodward Avenue corridors. Bloomfield Township offers a unique blend of nature and sophisticated living making it a community you’ll want to discover and explore.
