Special Agent, Angelena Braxton

When selling or buying a "Special Home", you need the leadership of a "Special Agent" to guide you through the process. I am here to protect and serve, you can count on me.

Professional Background

In addition to 9 years of real estate experience, my professional career has been diverse [in the sense that I have experience in several fields], and consistent [in the manner that my role has always been a customer care representative].  I now understand that my prior experience was preparing me for the "Culture of Real Estate" which is the ever changing world of opportunity, research, development, compromise, understanding, excitement and acceptance!

While managing my real estate career, I accepted a temporary opportunity to become a licensed Casualty and Health Insurance Producer in 7 states.  As a licensee, I assisted GM Salaried Retirees with their annual health care enrollment in 2008. Druing this period of time, I learned the art of organization, multi tasking and empathy.

Prior to embarking on my real estate career, I learned the power of building relationships.  I was a Quality Engineering Coordinator for the General Motors Business Unit, at Yazaki North America, in Canton. I was appointed by the Director of Quality, to the role of gatekeeper for GM Supplypower access. I was responsible for multi-million dollar budgets. I was a trusted associate, and I was worthy of it. It was here that I actually understood that possibilities are endless.

During my employment at HMHF Fun Vacations, I learned to travel and enjoy life! As an entry level associate, voluntarily assisting [other entry level associates] with customer care issues, earned me  a promotion to Reservation Service Specialist, and multiple international (Aruba, Jamaica, Cancun) and domestic ( Florida, Las Vegas) travel perks.

Education

I am a proactive learner, and my education goal is to learn something new daily.  With so many interesting people in the world, my career in Real Estate makes that goal achievable.  The one thing I absolutely know about myself is that I learn through applied reasoning, Aristotle once said "Tell me, I forget, Show me, I remember, Engage me, I understand".  Once I understood this, I became an effective learner.

Personal Interests

My interests are many. As an Aries, I enjoy variety and all things creative.  However, the one constant is poetry.

I love to write it, read it, recite it, and de-seed it.

This is how I relax my mind

Doesn't have to always rhyme

but it has to be on time!

Seriously, I am simply fascinated by the power of words, when paired together.  I guess that makes me Special also.

I also enjoy poetry by: Maya Angelou, Tupac Shakur (yes, he was a poet), Jill Scott, Edgar All Poe, Ezra Pound, and Emily Dickinson to name a few.

Fun Facts About Angelena

1. I obtained my very first client by "door knocking" and he happened to be the sitting Vice President for the N.A.A.C.P. (Detroit), and the former Vice President of the UAW for Ford.  (Note to self: keep door knocking).

2. I auditioned for Bang For Your Buck Detroit and didn't get it...there's always next time!

3. I really enjoy hanging out at the Library, especially in Southfield it's the BEST!

4. The Realtor I bought my first house from, inspired me to get my Real Estate license and.....I closed my first transaction with her....thanks Lydia...I will always appreciate you!

5.  In 2008 I became a health care licensee in 8 states, including Michigan.  As a team member on a project coordinated by Dialogue Marketing, I assisted General Motors salaried retirees enroll in health plans.  It was surprising rewarding....never knew how expensive medicare for seniors can be!

6. In 2010, I received my I.R.S. Tax Preparer Certification, and actually prepared taxes at Liberty Tax for  franchise owners Charles and Jackie Watson.  It was very interesting...never knew so much about tax laws.

Did You Know?

1. Did you know that in 1909, the stretch of Woodward Avenue between Six Mile and Seven Mile roads became the first mile in the world to be paved with concrete?

2. Did you know the FANATICU (licensed athletic apparel shop) located in Southfield, on the north west corner of 12 mile and Greenfield, started out in 1982 as an action toy store?

Personal Background

I grew up in Detroit, with my parents and siblings.  I met my husband when I was seventeen, and now we've been together for over half my life.  Together, we have lived in Livonia, Sterling Heights, and Southfield.   When I was a child, I wanted to be a housewife....not exactly like the ones on Bravo...but sort of (it's funny to me too).  Shout out to Bravo, I'm on board if you want to take the series to Detroit!
